Counseling Journey

I am currently a Master of Arts in Counseling student at the University of West Florida. My program prepares me for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, but my goal is to pursue a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology following my graduation in May 2028. My interests in mental health advocacy, contextual perspectives, and resilience have shaped my professional path and continually clarified my direction. Through graduate coursework and professional engagement in both academic and mental health settings, my experiences and education are aimed at developing a culturally informed, evidence-based practice.
My training emphasizes the integration of clinical skills, evidence-based practice, and multicultural awareness. A specific training interest for me includes exploring how clinicians can ethically and effectively respond to the complex social, cultural, and systemic factors that influence mental health and access to care. Within this context, I am developing a growing interest in military mental health, including the experiences of active-duty service members, veterans, and military-connected families.
Populations and Settings of Interest
Throughout my graduate training, I am intentionally engaging with a range of populations and practice settings to develop a flexible and well-rounded clinical identity. I am particularly interested in environments that emphasize accessibility, prevention, culturally responsive care, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
At this stage of my development, I am focused on strengthening core counseling competencies that can be thoughtfully adapted across different populations, settings, and levels of care.
